Spring ski tours to the European Alps 2008

Trip Number One:

A nine day traverse of the Otztal Alps.
Trip start: evening of April 2nd in Neustift, Austria for a day of skiing.
The next day we would into the Stubai region to ride a lift to do two days of ski-touring.
After a night at the Bierbaumers Post Hotel in Langenfeld we would start the Otztal 6 day circuit. This trip should combine the best qualities of the Haute Route and the Bernese Oberland. We would travel to a different hut almost every day with lots of possibilities for climbing peaks en-route if the weather is fine. We shall travel most days. But we shall spend two nights at the Martin Busch Hut. To quote the guidebook "the huts of the Otztal are second to none with regard to comfort Indeed, the word "hut" provides a poor description of what often turns out to be a small, well-run hotel. Hospitality throughout the delightful Otztal is first class."

Neustift is reached by train from Innsbruck. You can fly to Munich or Zurich and then fly or rail to Innsbruck.
The dates for this trip are from the evening of April 2nd to the morning of April 12th. The cost is $3,750 CDN. This includes all guides fees and expenses, accommodation from the night of April 2nd to 11th, and meals in the huts. It does not include ski lifts, ground transport, drinks and meals in the valleys. A $1,000 CDN non-refundable deposit would be appreciated whenever you feel you can commit. Full payment would be appreciated by February 1st.

Trip NumberTwo:

Chamonix to Zermatt Haute Route via the Grand St. Bernard Monastery. We would meet in Chamonix on the evening of April 14th. On the 15th we would ski a local classic day trip such as the Valley Blanche. On the morning of the 16th we would ride the Grand Montet lift and over seven days travel to Zermatt. We would have an extra day to ski around Zermatt or sit out bad weather. From Zermatt we have a potentially fabulous ski descent to Cervinia, Italy, then drive to Courmayer. Courmayeur is on the Italian side of the Mont Blanc Massif. We would return to Chamonix on April the 25th via the Valley Blanche from Courmayeur.
The cost of the April 14th to 25th Haute Route is $3,900 CDN. This includes all guides' fees and expenses, accommodation from the night of April 14th to the 24th, and all meals in the huts. It does not include ski-lifts, ground transport, drinks and meals in the valleys. As with the Otztal trip a $1,000 CDN non-refundable deposit when you feel you can commit and full payment by February 1st is greatly appreciated.
Chamonix is most easily reached from Geneva.
